Maurice Herring

Maurice Herring

Maurice has over 18 years experience in helping life-science organisations build world-class teams. Since co-founding PiR Group in 1990 he has been actively involved in developing strategic relationships with clients across the life science sectors, from high-growth major pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical and medical- device organisations to emerging high-potential start-ups, CMOs and CROs. Maurice builds close rapport with CEOs, Senior VPs and Directors of life-science organisations on a global basis, conducting international searches on their behalf for senior-level talent. He specialises in board-level roles including CEOs and Senior Directors/VPs and Managers in R&D, regulatory affairs, medical affairs, finance, business development, in/out licensing, operations, quality and human resources.

Jody Taylor

Director Client Projects

Jody Taylor

Since joining PiR in December 2001, Jody has progressed through the Research Team to the position of Research Team Leader before taking on her current role as Director Client Projects. In this role Jody is responsible for managing new and existing key-client accounts to secure and develop business for PiR. Jody works closely with clients to deliver shortlists of candidates for a wide variety of roles within the life-science industry, using her extensive experience of sourcing candidates for senior commercial, operations, medical and regulatory roles. She has also researched the market for senior clinical and scientific professionals. Jody gained an honours degree in Chemistry whilst working in agrochemical and pharmaceutical laboratories. She moved into the recruitment industry in March 2001, specialising in commercial recruitment for the life-science industries.

Manager Client Projects

Michele has been with PiR Group since June 2000. In her current role as Manager Client Projects, Michele is an integral member of the Business Development Team, responsible for account management and project managing marketing initiatives both in-house and in conjunction with external consultants. Michele also heads up the Project Support team ensuring the provision of smooth and efficient administrative support for the Consultants and Research Team, as well as facilitating the interface between clients and candidates.

Ciona Sutton BSc

Ciona Sutton

Ciona joined PiR Group in January 2006 as Research Project Manager. Since that time she has worked on many European and US-based assignments, interacting closely with clients to manage the full search process. She has successfully delivered shortlists of high-calibre candidates for a wide range of roles. Previously, she worked in Amgen’s Human Resource’s team focusing on high-volume recruitment as well as senior leadership positions for the UK clinical development business. In 2001, Ciona joined PPD as a Human Resources Advisor, providing generalist HR support and a comprehensive recruitment service to clinical operations staff in Europe, including the emerging markets of Central Eastern Europe. Following graduation, Ciona’s career began with a management consultancy firm where she co-ordinated recruitment and selection projects focusing on internal recruitment for the UK, France and Germany. She has a Post Graduate Diploma in Personnel Management and is a graduate member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.

Candida Rogers

Candida joined PiR Group as a Researcher in November 2005, leaving academia to apply her scientific background to a new career in life-sciences recruitment. Candida now manages international research projects for PiR, a role which encompasses the entire search project lifecycle, from client briefing to presentation of the shortlist. After gaining her PhD (neurophysiology) in 1995, Candida worked on a number of academic research projects in Plymouth, Southampton and Cambridge. Her last post-doctoral position at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology in Cambridge was focused on neural circuits and behaviour, using electrophysiology and molecular techniques, including RNAi, to establish how genes modulate behaviour in the nematode worm C.elegans.

Julia Hadley-Bresler BSc (Hons), MSc., PhD

Data Manager/Researcher

Julia Hadley-Bresler

Julia has been with PiR Group since 2004 as Data Manager/Researcher. She brings a wealth of scientific knowledge to assist in the delivery of client projects, as well as having responsibility for our information management processes and systems. Her career started as a Chemistry Lecturer at a College of Further Education. Julia went on to become a Scientific Editor for a pharmaceutical publishing company; she then returned to the laboratory to work as a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at Guy’s Hospital. Julia has a BSc in Biological Sciences from Leicester University and gained an MSc in Neuroscience from Keele University. Following this, she went on to gain a PhD in Biophysics from the Open University, where she investigated the effect of diabetes and ageing on the cornea.

Ben Pepper, BSc

Ben Pepper

Ben joined PiR Group in 2009 as a Researcher, working closely with the Research Project Managers and our clients to deliver shortlists of high calibre candidates for a variety of roles within the life-science industry. Following graduation, Ben began his career as a University Researcher for a Sport and Physical Education department before moving into contingency recruitment in 2004. In 2007, Ben moved into an executive search role for a company specialising in the life-sciences markets. Ben has successfully completed senior-level projects across Europe, in pre-clinical, clinical and commercial areas.

Ian Greenwood

Financial Controller

Ian qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant in 1981 and has spent his working life in public practice, 25 years of which at partner level. Ian currently runs his own practice and thoroughly enjoys dealing with the Inland Revenue on a day-to-day basis! Specialisations include advising owner-managed businesses on their strategies and management.
